Flights are available from Gatwick, Heathrow and Luton to Sofia. There are also charter flight from other airports to Varna.Our house is roughly equidistant from Sofia and Varna, but we have always gone via Sofia. Wizz-air does the cheapest direct flights, but the times are not very convenient. Balkan Air and British Airways also do direct flights to Sofia. |
If you need to stay in a hotel near Sofia airport, then this is the one we normally use. It's ten minutes by car or taxi from the airport. |

A car is essential, and you'll want air conditioning if you go in June to August. The car hire companies might want payment in cash (Euros), and will ask you to leave a deposit. |
